10 years waiting at the library was worth it

I have a book from the library. The last due date stamped on it was 10 years ago.

At first glance, it seems inefficient that the book sat there for the past 10 years. Presumably some people flicked through it over time as it sat on its shelf.

For me, it was worth the wait. If you’re looking to read about “creating change in your community”, I do recommend this book called “Stick Your Neck Out” by John Graham. It’s about taking an empathetic and caring approach to the “public process”.

Our Irish library network has become exponentially more efficient in recent years, as you can order any book from any branch, to be delivered to a library of your choice. Search and reserve it online. That book no longer needs to sit waiting for a local reader.

Walk into your local library. Ask to become a member (it’s free). Then ask how to search the all-Ireland catalogue.
