I was chatting to a neighbour. Let’s say she’s in her late 40s.
She walks to and from work in Limerick city centre. She’s an “active commuter” already.
I mentioned that I mix up going to the city centre on foot or on a bike. Her response was:
I haven’t been on a bike saddle in 40 years, and there’s no way I will get back on.
(I wonder if she was convinced by Bike Week?)
So, what steps can take toward a future where she might say to herself, “I wonder if I’ll get a bike to go to work“?
If we can help her get on a bike, then it’s a step toward an alternative future for those who currently think “I must go to shop down the road for milk, where are my car keys?“.
