Tús maith, leath na hoibre.
Author Steven Pressfield says that there’s a different between amateur and professional writers (artists). Amateur artists think it’s hard to face the blank page to start writing. Professional artists know the real battle is to get yourself to sit down in front of the blank page.
In his book Turning Pro (although he later turned softer in ways), Pressfield says that a professional does not accept excuses from himself. He shows up every day.
Software development is much like this, since much of it is self-directed knowledge-based work. The professional knows that sitting down in front of the problem is half the battle.
